Last Thursday was Time to Talk Day, a day when people are encouraged to talk about their mental health. Of course, the reality for some is, mental health issues can be 365 days a year.
This is something we recognise at DGP and whilst we have made good progress to address mental health in the workplace, there is always more to be done.
Last week we held one hour, daily video conferencing session’s for our office staff, an open forum for anyone to attend for a Time to Talk. Even a general chit chat, helped lifted people’s moods, especially at a time when people are more isolated, working from home, spending less time with their family, friends and socialising.
We also held sessions across our sites, promoting our Employee Assistance Programme for anyone in need of further support throughout the year.
The programme includes online help as well as face-to-face counselling and a wellbeing portal. Leaflets were handed out and posters displayed to help promote the service. In addition, our Mental Health First Aiders were available for a confidential talk, across several of our sites.
